Hello Peace Music CommUNITY. I haven't written in a long time. I find myself on Twitter a lot these days, participating in a global conversation about the future of our Beautiful Planet and all its many Citizens. We are able to know so much "in the moment" now, about what is going on in many parts of the world (which seems to be in a very aggravated state of chaos).
I also spent EIGHT MONTHS working on the graphic presentation for Small Planet. I didn't know it would take me that long, but I threw out so many graphic images I created which just didn't seem "good enough" or "right enough" to me.
Small Planet emerged as a companion or "sister song" to "Orbit," which more of you have heard because it placed in the top 10 in the International Peace Song Contest in 2009.
Small Planet appeared in "my brain/mind" almost immediately when I finished writing Orbit. They were like "Twins."
Both songs try in some way to express the "Kundalini or Satori Experience" I had in my early 20's, when I was seriously practicing Zen meditation while painting. At that time, I made a powerful, committed effort to release my sense of personal identity so I might "merge" with Anything Greater than My Own Tiny Particle of Consciousness.
I had what seemed to be a "classical-type mystical expereince" with many, many features and after-effects. I have a very close friend who had a childhood Near-Death Experience from severe spinal meningitis. She feels my "Satori" experience was extremely akin to her NDE. Who am I to say? I merely say, "I think I had this experience -- I seemed to have had this experience -- and it seems to have never left me, to have changed my entire perception of Being in the World."
Small Planet is A LOVE SONG TO PLANET EARTH and ALL IT'S CONSCIOUSNESS. I deeply and sincerely hope "Small Planet" pleases THE LIGHT OF THE STARS, which lives in ALL THE BEAUTY OF THE EARTH.
NAMASTE, LINDA ROSCH
